Stafanie Taylor registered a wonderful century, scoring 105 against Ireland in the third ODI at the Bready Cricket Ground, Magheramason, on the 15th of July, helping West Indies win by 64 runs. Ireland won the toss and chose to field first. Taylor scored her 10th ODI century and 2nd of the three-match ODI series. West Indies were bowled out for 257 in 50 overs.
Taylor hit 10 fours in her entire innings. Leg-spinner Afy Fletcher registered figures of 3/33 for West Indies. Ireland lost the first two ODIs and were aiming for a consolation win, but Stefanie Taylor’s dominating performance with the bat affected their plans.
Jahzara Claxton and Aaliyah Alleyne were the other top scorers, with 30 and 33, respectively, for West Indies. Orla Prendergast, Georgina Dempsey and Jane Maguire took 2 wickets each for Ireland. In reply, Ireland were bowled out for 193 in 43.1 overs.
Captain Gaby Lewis scored 50 in 59 balls for Ireland, while all-rounder Leah Paul scored 32. Off-break bowler Karishma Ramharack registered figures of 3/33, while leg-break bowler Afy Fletcher also registered figures of 3/33, helping West Indies win the series 3-0. West Indies were 48/4 in 12.4 overs, but Taylor’s strong resistance helped West Indies score 257.
West Indies women showcased complete dominance throughout the match. On the other hand, Ireland were 86/2 in 17.5 overs but suddenly lost their way as West Indian bowlers managed to get wickets regularly after the 18th over. Stafanie Taylor registered yet another record as she managed to score 10000-plus runs in International cricket. The right-hander has so far scored 6339 runs in 179 ODIs with a highest score of 171 and 3666 runs in T20Is with a highest score of 90.
