The Australia vs Sri Lanka series moves onto the ODI leg with the first ODI to be played in Pallekele on Tuesday, June 14. Pallekele hosts the first two ODIs followed by the next three in Colombo. After winning the T20Is 2-1, Australia are looking to start strong in the ODIs.

Both teams head into the ODI series with an eye on the preparations of the 50-over world cup in 2023. In the ICC ODI Super League points table Australia are placed seventh on the points table with 70 points while the Lankans ninth on 62. The five-match ODI series will be followed by a two-match Test series part of the ongoing ICC WTC 2021-23.

Australia have a few injury concerns to manage with Mitchell Starc missing the first two games with his finger injury. There are injury concerns over Mitchell Marsh and Kane Richardson while Cameron Green's fitness is monitored as well with respect to his bowling.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will be buoyed by their win in the third T20I. Skipper Dasun Shanaka's late-order hitting took them over the line. The ODI side will see a few changes with the return of veteran Dinesh Chandimal. Meanwhile, Angelo Mathews is not a part of the ODI squad which has plenty of inexperienced faces. Having lost the T20I series, The Islanders would be eyeing to topple the Aussies in the 50-over format.
