Mumbai Indians (MI), arguably the most successful franchise in IPL history, have assembled a strong squad in the WPL 2023 auction. They signed a total of 17 players and, thanks to their scouting, were able to strike a good balance between star quality and domestic talent. The five-time IPL champions are expected to name Harmanpreet Kaur as their captain.

After missing out on Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, MI secured Indian captain Harmanpreet in their ranks and will undoubtedly benefit from her experience. Nat Sciver, Amelia Kerr, Hayley Matthews, and Chloe Tryon provide depth in both the batting and bowling departments, which has been a feature of Mumbai Indians teams in the past.

MI has also picked up some lesser-known names, but their world-class scouting system cannot be questioned given the number of stars it has provided to the Indian men's cricket team. MI would like to begin their WPL history by winning the inaugural edition, with great talent and a potentially strong leader in Harmanpreet Kaur.
