IPL 2023 1st Match: CSK Playing XI  against GT

On March 31, 2023, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will begin off their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign against the defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After a disappointing performance in the previous edition of the T20 tournament, the four-time champions will be hoping to make a strong comeback this season. CSK will also look to capitalise on the newly added stars in the IPL 2023 auction.

Last year, Chennai Super Kings discovered their best possible opening combo, and they are very likely to start the IPL 2023 against Gujarat Titans with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Moeen Ali, an English all-rounder, will play at three, followed by the experienced Ambati Rayudu. The presence of numerous all-rounders such as Ben Stokes, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Mitchell Santner, Dwaine Pretorius, and Deepak Chahar gives CSK a significant advantage in IPL 2023. Stokes, Jadeja, and Chahar are in the playing 11, while Dube, Pretorius, and Santner will be on the bench to begin the T20 competition.

It will be fascinating to see where skipper MS Dhoni bats in this lineup that includes both Ben Stokes and Ravindra Jadeja. The Chennai Super Kings were dealt a huge setback when their premier fast bowler Mukesh Choudhary, who performed admirably in his debut IPL 2022 season, was ruled out due to injury. Deepak Chahar, right-arm pacer Simarjeet Singh, and Dwaine Pretorius will spearhead the pace assault.

Off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana of Sri Lanka was very impressive in the IPL last year, but he won't be available for the first few games because he will be playing for his national side in the T20I series against New Zealand. As a result, leg-spinner Prashant Solanki may have an advantage over Mitchell Santner, as CSK already has a left-arm spinner in Ravindra Jadeja.

CSK Playing XI Against GT: MS Dhoni (C & wk), Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Ben Stokes, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwaine Pretorius, Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana, Prashant Solanki.
