The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) limited Rohit Sharma and company to 157/8 on Saturday, April 8 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after being given the opportunity to bat first. Then, MS Dhoni's team successfully defended the target with seven wickets and 11 deliveries remaining, causing MI to suffer their second loss in as many games. When questioned about his comments on the Mumbai Indians' defeat during a post-game interview on Star Sports, Harbhajan replied: "We think this team's bowling is their weakness but the batting has truly disappointed if we analyse it correctly.

Only your bowlers will enter the game after the hitters have scored runs. The former Mumbai Indians player continued, saying: "They are not playing freely. Their conservative batting strategy is unworthy of the most successful side in the IPL. A large team is one that engages in open play. A five-time champion side didn't seem to engage in this kind of cricket.

Despite having some well-known batsmen, they struggled in both games. The Mumbai Indians were comfortably positioned at 64/1 after 6.3 overs when they lost four wickets for just 12 runs. To give CSK the advantage, Mitchell Santner and Ravindra Jadeja each took two wickets at that time. Harbhajan Singh praised Tim David for landing a few lusty blows but noted that, unlike Tilak Varma, the big-hitter struggles to put the ball in gaps, adding: "Tilak Varma was definitely the hero in the first match but once Tilak Varma got out today, it seemed no one had the awareness."

Tim David was present, but he only understands how to play big shots; he is incapable of moving the game along. Tilak's singles and doubles were both good. Sunil Gavaskar continued, "There are players like Cameron Green who played one or two innings when he came here last year, and based on that he was picked. The Mumbai Indians cannot rely solely on Rohit Sharma, and players like Ishan Kishan need to play significant knocks.

He'll have to act in that manner. Not every game will have runs from Rohit Sharma. In order to succeed, young players like Cameron Green and Ishan Kishan will need to score 70–90 runs, or even 100 runs if they can. Kishan attempted to knock a six off Jadeja's bowling but was caught at long-on after scoring a 21-ball 32. Green was also removed from the game by the left-arm spinner, who made a fantastic return catch after the Australian all-rounder slammed the ball back at him.
