India's spinners were dominant in the first Test match. Web Desk of India Today: India easily defeated Australia in the first Test at Nagpur. Australia was defeated by an innings and 132-run defeat in the first game of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, which was completed on Day 3. Australia batted for a little more than one session in their second outing in Nagpur, succumbing for 91 runs in 32.3 overs.

Australian opener David Warner was heavily chastised for failing to play Ravichandran Ashwin in the second innings of the match. Former Australian cricketer Shaun Tait defended Ashwin, saying that "there is only so much a batter can do when Ashwin is constantly threatening your off-stump." Warner showed some signs of improvement, but Ashwin still dominates him.

You have to look at the lineup and say Travis Head isn't the guy to go to, but Warner averages 20-21 in these conditions in India. "It's not like Warner has come here and had a lot of success, so it's not a huge surprise," Shaun Tait told ESPNcricinfo after the first Test match.

Tait stated that Warner understands what he must do in the Indian conditions and that the batter must look for ways to score runs throughout the series. "David understands what he must do. He has mentioned concentrating and batting for extended periods of time. But there's only so much you can do against Ashwin when he's constantly threatening that off stump "Tait elaborated. "Sitting against Ashwin and defending will not help Warner," he added. On February 17, India will play Australia in New Delhi.
