Brendon McCullum is set to be seen in a different role as he has been announced as the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Just a few days ago, former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The reason is now plain and clear that he wanted to take a different role and he has already got one.
IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) announced on Thursday that McCullum is their new head coach. He has been also announced as the head coach of Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) for CPL. Both the clubs belong to the same owner, Shahrukh Khan.
McCullum expressed his excitement after getting appointed as the head coach.
"It's a great honour to take on this responsibility. The Knight Rider franchises in IPL & CPL have become iconic and have set the standard in franchise cricket. We have fantastic squads in both KKR & TKR and I along with the support staff will be looking to build on the successes both franchises have enjoyed," he said.
McCullum played two seasons with KKR in IPL including the very first season of the tournament. He also scored 158 in the first match of the tournament and that knock is still one of the best T20 knocks the cricket world has ever seen.
