Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has signed a contract with Yorkshire in the County Championship, which will be his first major representation for an English County side. The wrist spinner will play in 5 One Day Cup matches and 3 County Championship matches. The 31-year-old wasn’t included in the playing XI against Ireland in the two-match T20I series in Ireland as well as against England in the five-match T20I series and three-match ODI series in England.

 The team management’s decision not to include him in the playing XI surprised many. The wrist spinner stated that he has enjoyed playing in English conditions and playing for a team like Yorkshire is always a big opportunity. Gavin Hamilton, who is the general manager of Yorkshire, stated that Kuldeep’s inclusion will strengthen the team’s bowling department as the leg-spinner possesses international experience and can add firepower with his wrist spin during the final lap of the season due to a dry summer. 

Manav Suthar is another Indian who has been signed in the County Championship and is currently playing for Warwickshire. Kuldeep has claimed 79 wickets in 18 tests so far, with best bowling figures of 5/40, while the left-arm wrist spinner has claimed 194 wickets in 121 ODIs with best bowling figures of 6/25. The leg-spinner was a part of the T20I team that won the T20 World Cups in 2024 and 2026. The 31-year-old was also part of the ODI team that won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Kuldeep’s variety will add width to Yorkshire’s spin bowling department.
