ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025: Four Teams for the Semi-Finals Have Been Finalised

ICC Women's Cricket World Cup: The group stage of the Women's ODI World Cup is now in its final stages, and the four semifinalists have been determined. Australia, South Africa, England, and India have qualified for the semifinals, while New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh have been eliminated in the group stage. India advanced to the semifinals after defeating New Zealand on Thursday.

India defeated New Zealand by 53 runs to reach the semi-finals of the Women's World Cup 2025. Rain disrupted this crucial match between India and New Zealand. Batting first, the Indian women's team scored 340 runs for the loss of three wickets in 49 overs. In reply, when the New Zealand team came out to chase the target, rain came again and under the DLS method, they were given a revised target of 325 runs in 44 overs. The New Zealand team could only score 271 runs for eight wickets in the stipulated overs. Thus, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team finally got a win after losing three consecutive matches. This victory was special for them because it helped them reach the last four.

Team India in this Tournament

India defeated Sri Lanka in their opening match of the Women's World Cup and then beat arch-rivals Pakistan. However, they suffered defeats against South Africa, Australia, and England before returning to winning ways by defeating New Zealand. The Indian women's team has won three and lost three of its six matches. The team is currently in fourth place with six points and a net run rate of +0.628.

On October 26, India will play its last league match against Bangladesh, which will be an opportunity to further boost the team's confidence before the semi-finals.

Current Point Table

Although the four semi-final teams have been finalized, there is still uncertainty about which team will face whom in the final four. It is certain that the Indian team will finish fourth because even if it wins its last match, it will only have eight points, while England, South Africa, and Australia are ahead of India in terms of points. England is in third place with nine points and will face New Zealand in the final match. South Africa, on the other hand, faces the leader, Australia. If England manages to defeat New Zealand, it will have 11 points, while if South Africa loses to Australia, it will fall to third place with 10 points.

The first semi-final will be between the top and fourth-placed teams in the points table, while the second semi-final will be between the second and third-placed teams. This means that India's final four clash will depend on which team finishes first. Currently, Australia leads the table, and the match between Australia and South Africa on Oct 25 will determine which team India faces. It is certain that the team that wins this match between Australia and South Africa will play India in the semi-finals.
