Steve Smith's wife Dani Willis has denied reports she wants the sports star to 'retire from Australian Test cricket', so the pair can start a family together.

The couple tied the knot in September 2018 and it had been alleged that Steve and Dani were hoping to take the next step in their relationship and have a baby.

Sources claimed Dani only wanted to fall pregnant if Steve took a step back from test cricket, but she has revealed the pair have no baby plans just yet.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Monday, Dani reveled: 'Steve and I have no intention of starting a family anytime soon!'

Her comment came after sources told New Idea the couple have been 'discussing starting a family'.

Speaking to the publication, an insider claimed: '[Dani wants to start a family, but won't while [Steve] is travelling so much.'

He is regularly forced to head overseas for work and has recently been competing in the latest test series, with Australia beating England to retain the Ashes urn.

Their win comes after Steve was involved in a ball tampering scandal last year that saw him, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft slapped with bans for conspiring to cheat against South Africa in March 2018, by rubbing the ball with sandpaper.

The insider alleged that Dani ideally wanted Steve, the former captain of Australia's national team, to 'retire' from test cricket, so they can focus on having a baby.

'She would love him to retire from Australian Test cricket and is putting pressure on him to do that,' the insider added.

Although, she has now insisted this is not the case.

The long-term couple first began dating in 2011 and announced their engagement six years later, after Sydney-born Steve popped the question in New York.

The sports star had proposed at the top of the Rockefeller Centre during the pair's romantic break away in the US and later confirmed the news on Instagram.

Flaunting her engagement ring in a snap taken just moments after Steve got down on one knee, Dani wrote: 'The beginning of forever.'

She and Steve tied the knot the following year in a secret ceremony held in Berrima, New South Wales, in September 2018.

Marking the moment on social media, Steve said: 'Today I got to marry my best friend. What an absolutely incredible day. @dani_willis looked unbelievably beautiful.'
