Rajat Patidar recently got involved in a case that involved his old mobile number. It was a simple telecom procedure, but in a few days, it turned into an interesting incident. Patidar's number was not in use for about 90 days. As per the rules, the telecom company shut it down and found a new customer.
A young man named Manish from the Madagaon village in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district, activated this number with a Reliance Jio SIM in late June. As soon as the SIM was activated, he saw that Patidar's picture was still on WhatsApp. Initially, it seemed funny, but soon calls started coming on the phone one after the other. These calls were not from normal people, but from players like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Yash Dayal.
Patidar himself contacted Manish and tried to ask for the number back. He told his name, but Manish and his friend Khemraj joked, "Hum to MS Dhoni hai." Then Patidar said, "Okay, I will send the police."
Within a few minutes, the local police reached Manish's house. Seeing the matter getting serious, Manish and Khemraj cooperated fully and returned the SIM. Gariaband Deputy SP Neha Sinha said that this was a completely rules-based case, in which no one was at fault. She explained the situation to the family, and with their consent, Patidar got the number back.
Interacting with stars in the village
Khemraj said that this experience added a unique moment to his life. Talking to Virat Kohli on the phone was like a dream come true for him. AB de Villiers spoke in English, which he could not understand, but his happiness knew no bounds.
This incident shows that sometimes even a simple telecom process can become a memorable story. For Patidar, it was important to get his old number back, but for Manish and Khemraj, it became a lifelong memory.
