ZIM vs WI: Tagenarine Chanderpaul Sets a New Record with a Double Hundred, Breaking his Father Shivnarine's Long-Standing Mark.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul, son of renowned West Indies batter Shivnarine Chanderpaul, made history with a brilliant double-hundred against Zimbabwe on the first day of the first Test in Bulawayo. He not only surpassed his father's highest Test score of 203 runs, but also became the 12th father-son pair to get a Test hundred.

16 long balls and 3 sixes helped the opening batter score 207 runs. He also took part in the biggest opening stand for the West Indies in the longest version of the game, a 336-run partnership with captain Kraigg Brathwaite for the first wicket.

With his brilliant performance on Monday, Tagenarine surpassed his father's record-breaking score of 203 runs in a Test match. Unexpectedly, they also became the 12th father-son team in the history of international cricket to record a century. Chanderpaul and Brathwaite's 336-run partnership is currently the ninth-highest opening Test partnership, falling far short of the all-time record 415 runs made by South Africa's Graeme Smith and Neil McKenzie against Bangladesh in Chattogram in 2008.

Additionally, they narrowly beat the long-standing mark of 298 runs against England in 1990 held by Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes for the highest opening wicket partnership for West Indies. Innocent Kaia, one of the team's five Test rookies, was unbeaten on 59 after hitting nine fours as Zimbabwe's reply total at day three's end was 114-3 (333 runs behind). In the penultimate delivery of the day, Brathwaite clean-bowled Craig Ervine for 13 with a deceptively quick ball, ending the day with one skipper dismissing another.

I don't want to talk about the team strategy; we just need wickets, said all-rounder Jason Holder. "The guys played well, and congrats to Tage on his maiden century. Good to see him convert it to a double. It was a really good partnership with the captain. Good to see them not only lay down the foundation but also take it really deep.
