Here is why Rinku Singh has left Team India's camp in Chennai

The Indian cricket team has a massive mountain to climb. They are gearing up for a do-or-die Super 8 match against Zimbabwe in Chennai on February 26. After a crushing 76-run loss to South Africa, the team are stuck at the bottom of Group 1.

Their net run rate has dropped to a messy -3.800. Every single ball now matters for their survival in the tournament. Only a huge win can keep their semi-final dreams alive. The spinning tracks at the MA Chidambaram Stadium might help them out. Still, the pressure on Suryakumar Yadav’s side is through the roof.

Indian National Team Face Crisis as Rinku Singh Returns Home

Meanwhile, Rinku Singh has left the camp in Chennai to head to Greater Noida for a serious family emergency, according to recent reports. His father, Khanchand Singh, is fighting stage four liver cancer. He is currently on life support and in critical condition at a local hospital. Rinku travelled with the team on February 23, but he got the bad news right after landing.

He took leave immediately to be with his family. This sudden exit meant the 26-year-old missed the big practice session the team held on Tuesday evening. So, the Men in Blue expect him to miss the Zimbabwe game. He is prioritising his family during this incredibly tough time.

Looking at the stats, Rinku Singh has found it hard to find his usual rhythm in this tournament. He has managed only twenty-four runs in five games. He has often found himself with limited opportunities or has fallen for low scores under heavy pressure.

Rinku Singh's strike rate is sitting at a low 82.75. This is a far cry from his reputation as a premier finisher in T20s. Even with his recent struggles, his exit leaves a big hole in the middle order. The management has to act fast and shift their tactics to fill that gap.
