England Players Leaving IPL

T20 World Cup is to be held right after IPL 2024. The teams are also focused on its preparation. For this reason, England players have started leaving the IPL and returning to their country. England won the T20 World Cup title in 2022. Before the tournament starting from June 1, England also has to play a T20 series against Pakistan. This is the reason why the English Cricket Board has ordered its players to return.

And the absence of these players may hurts few teams in reaming matches of TATA IPL 2024. Like Rajasthan will be without Jos Buttler for the remaining two matches of the group stage. He returned home. Bengaluru lost Will Jacks and Rishi Topley. Kolkata will also not get Phil Salt in the playoffs.

Kolkata Knight Riders will missed Phil Salt:
Kolkata has already reached the play-offs of IPL. But England has increased KKR's worries. Because the Knights won't have in-form opener Phil Salt in the playoffs. English cricketers have returned to the country to prepare for the T20 World Cup.

Since Salt is in the World Cup team, he also has to be released. However, it is known that he will return home after playing the last match of the group against Rajasthan in Guwahati.

Rajasthan Royals and Jos Buttler:
There are still two group stage matches left. But Rajasthan Royals will not get their English cricketer Jos Buttler in those two matches.

Rajasthan are yet to secure the playoffs due to a hat-trick of losses. Although the team has two matches left, they will not have Butler in them. He is also the captain of England. A video posted by Rajasthan on Monday with the caption "We’ll miss you, Jos bhai!"

Royal Challengers Bangaluru also posted a similar one. There, Will Jacks and Reece Topley are informed of their return home.

They posted " Jacksy and Toppers are heading back home for international duties and we wish them all the very best.  You were incredible in the camp and on the field this IPL. See you soon, lads."

Three players of Punjab Kings will return to England. Liam Livingstone returned to England on Monday to recover from a knee injury. Punjab Kings team is already out of the playoff race with only four wins in 12 matches. Apart from Livingstone Sam Curran and Johny Bairstow will also returned to England.

Along with this, Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Moeen Ali will also return to England.

Many are not happy with how the players returned home mid-way through the IPL. Sunil Gavaskar wrote in a newspaper column.

"I am all for players choosing country before anything else. But t hey have assured various franchises about their availability for the full season. If they pull out now, it will be letting down the franchises. The franchises probably pay them more money in one IPL season. They don’t earn that much in a few seasons with their country." Gavaskar wrote in his column.

"The franchises should deduct a substantial amount from the fee that the player was bought for. Moreover the Board should not be given the stated 10 per cent commission of the fee that each player gets"

"If the Board has gone back on its assurance they need to be penalised too. By the way, this 10 per cent commission to the Boards happens only in the IPL and nowhere else. Does the BCCI get any thanks for its generosity? Ha ha ha. No way," Gavaskar said.
