The 3rd match of the Big Bash League 2019-20 will be played between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong.
Sydney Thunder got off their Big Bash League 2019 -20 campaign to a winning start with skipper Callum Ferguson standing out. The Thunder, playing in the opening encounter of the season against Brisbane Heat, had handy contributions from Usman Khawaja, Alex Ross and Chris Green but it was the unbeaten 44-ball 73-run knock from skipper Ferguson that took them to a 172-run total.
Disciplined bowling from Chris Green and Arjun Nair then meant that the team bundled out the Heat and won the game by 29 runs.
Thunder will take on defending champions Melbourne Renegades in their second match of the season. Their economical bowling was the USP of the Renegades in season 8 and the team would look to build on that this year as well.
Jon Holland recently underwent surgery for a chronic finger issue and is unlikely to take part in the season. It was unfortunate for them to lose Usman Shinwari and Faheem Ashraf on the eve of the season but the team has more than made up for that.
The Renegades have roped in Shaun Marsh, Richard Gleeson and Jake Fraser-McGurk this time around in place of Chris Tremain, Cameron White and Tim Ludeman.
