Nathan Lyon's relationship with real estate agent Emma McCarthy continues to divide loyalties within the close-knit Australian cricket WAG community.

Emma has 'split the WAGs in two' since her affair with Nathan was exposed in late 2017, marking the end of his 10-year romance with Mel Waring, the mother of his two children.

According to Woman's Day on Monday, several wives and girlfriends remain loyal to Mel, who was left blindsided when her partner left her almost two years ago.

'I don't think it's surprising that after spending 10 years with Nathan, Mel built some very strong friendships with some of the other WAGs, who still support and love her,' said a source.

'I know they still find it hard to stomach Emma.'

Emma is currently in England with her fellow WAGs, where they are supporting their husbands and boyfriends during the Ashes series.

Last week, she shared photos to Instagram of herself trying on wedding dresses at a boutique in London with her friends Bonnie Paine and Cat McAteer.

The women had apparently 'gatecrashed' a bridal photo shoot for Vogue and sampled around $400,000 worth of items by Pallas Couture.

Last week, Woman's Day reported that the Australian cricket WAG community was being 'torn apart' due to animosity between Emma and Steve Smith's wife Dani Willis.

Dani apparently remains 'very loyal' to Nathan's ex-partner Mel and refuses to accept his new relationship.

'Dani is a very loyal friend and it's no secret she's been very icy with Emma,' a source claimed at the time.

'Dani knows how bitter the split is and how devastated Mel was when she found out about [Nathan's] affair, so she doesn't have any time for Emma.

'It's caused a real division among the girls. I can't see Dani ever becoming friends with Emma.'

In 2017, Nathan and Mel, who share custody of daughters Harper, five, and Milla, four, separated after dating for almost a decade.

The split shocked the cricket world and it wasn't long before Nathan's new relationship with Emma was splashed across the tabloids.

At the time, friends confirmed that Nathan had left Mel and was 'very much in love' with his new girlfriend.

The cricketer's relationship with Emma soon became serious and the pair have since enjoyed several romantic getaways in Australia and abroad.

Emma has documented their trips via Instagram, sharing envy-inducing snaps from destinations such as Greece, France and South Africa.

Last year, Mel discussed her marriage breakdown in her personal blog.

'I wasn't sure what being really alone would feel like, being shut out from him [Nathan],' she wrote in March 2018.

'Since saying goodbye it hadn't really hit me. We have lived a life where he has constantly travelled, cricket was life and touring was a given,' Mel added.

'"Daddy's at cricket". It's easy to forget. Today has been different, I have been strong, I have been brave but today I feel weak, I feel small and I feel alone.'
