West Indies Team to Wear 'Black Lives Matter' Logo in Test Against England

The West Indies team has reached England to play a test series with them. After spending 14 days in isolation, this test series will begin on July 8. One special thing will be seen in this test series. This time the West Indies team will be wearing 'Black Lives Matter' logo on their jerseys. This is the way of the West Indies team to raise their voice against racism.

This year, the issue of racism has flared up again after the death of black citizen George Floyd in America. Strong protest to this issue was also seen in America. Protests were seen all over America. In this Protest, this slogan 'Black Lives Matter' came out. West Indian captain Jason Holder has come out openly on this issue. Jason Holder said in a statement, 'We believe it is our duty to show solidarity and help create awareness.'

Jason Holder said, ‘We have come here to win the Wisden Trophy, but we are also aware of what has happened in the world and will fight for justice and equality. As a group of young players, we are aware of the rich history of West Indies cricket and we know that we are the bearers of that heritage for the coming breed.’

Holder said, ‘I believe that in the case of racism, action should be taken like doping and corruption. We did not take the decision to wear this logo lightly. We know how it feels to comment on skin color. Equality and unity are important. We cannot sit silent until it is there.'

West Indies players will wear this logo on the collar of their jerseys. This logo is designed by Elisha Hosana. The ICC has given its approval on the wearing of this logo. The West Indies team will play a series of 3 Test matches with England. International cricket is returning from this series after the outbreak of Corona.
