Security guards at the MCG are blasted for booting out a group over bucket tower
Security guards at Melbourne Cricket Ground have come under fire after a fan claimed they kicked out a group because they made a tower out of buckets.

The group, made up of four adults and a young boy, made the pyramid while in the stands for Australia's T20 clash with Sri Lanka on Friday, but their fun was short lived.

More than 50 buckets - which were handed out to fans on the night - were stacked to form the tower on level one at the MCG.

A young boy then enjoyed knocking the buckets down, much to the amusement of cheering spectators around him.

Benjamin Elam, who was in the crowd, Tweeted his anger that the group were kicked out, but the MCG said they were removed for unrelated reasons

But videos captured three security guards escort out the group of adults, while the crowd can be heard booing their decision to remove them.

Benjamin Elam, who was in the crowd, tweeted before-and-after photos of the makeshift tower.

He claimed two men and a woman were booted from the stadium for building the tower.

'Can the public not have fun these days? 2 young men and a young female built a tower of buckets and let a 4yo boy knock it over,' he wrote.

'Shortly after they were escorted out of the ground. MISERABLE EFFORT from MCG security.'

The post spread quickly, with hundreds of people calling out the bouncers for being the 'fun police'.

But the MCG denied that the three people, who appeared to be sitting behind the buckets, were told to leave due to the tower.

'We can confirm there were no issues associated with the building of the 'bucket pyramid' at tonight's T20 International,' the MCG wrote on Twitter.

An MCG spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia that there were no issues in relation to the bucket tower, and they were removed for unrelated reasons.

The spokeswoman declined to comment on what those reasons were.

The drama in the stands didn't get in the way of the Australian cricket team, who ended up comfortably beating Sri Lanka.

A half-century to player-of-the-match and series David Warner allowed Australia to clinch the win with 14 balls to spare in front of 28,568 fans.

Warner, who was not dismissed in three innings this series, was unbeaten on 57 off 50 balls, with four fours and a six.
