Rumors are going that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Set To Become Next ACC President

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to be ACC President: Current Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi is set to become its next chairman later this year under the 'rotation' policy of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Recently, the issue of the post of president was discussed in the ACC meeting in which Naqvi is in the race to become the next chief.

“When the ACC meets later this year, it will confirm that Naqvi will be the next president for a two-year term,” a source said. BCCI secretary Jay Shah is the incumbent ACC president, having got one-year extension in January this year for a third consecutive term.

“When Shah steps down the PCB chief will take over,” the source added.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah is the present ACC president and had received a one-year extension for a third consecutive term in January this year. The source said, 'When Jay Shah steps down from the post, the PCB chief will take over.' ACC had recently given the hosting rights of Asia Cup 2025 to India in which the tournament will be played in T20 format while the 2027 phase will be played in Bangladesh in ODI format.

Jay Shah first became the chairman of ACC in January 2021. He took over this post in place of Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan. After this, in the beginning of this year, Jay Shah got one year extension for his tenure. At the same time, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had appointed Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi as its president for a tenure of three years in February 2024 itself.

Both arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, have been under some heated zone after the latter has repeatedly shown concerns and leniency to travel to the former country to participate in the upcoming Champions' trophy.

Irrespective of the many meetings between BCCI President Roger Binny and Naqvi, there has been very little clarity on what will ultimately pan out for India's participation in the Champions Trophy. Now things will more interesting to know what will happen if Mohsin Naqvi take the charge of Asian Cricket Council.
