RCB vs CSK IPL 2026: RCB Registered An Iconic Record At The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

Royal Challengers Bengaluru ignited the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during their high-octane encounter against Chennai Super Kings on 5 April 2026. After the visitors opted to bowl first, the home side recovered from a steady start to post a massive total of 250/3, which became the highest score ever recorded against CSK in the history of the tournament.

Phil Salt and Devdutt Padikkal set the tone with solid knocks before the middle order went after the Chennai bowling unit. Tim David stole the show by smashing an unbeaten 70 from just 25 deliveries, which was a knock that included eight towering sixes at a strike rate of 280. He found a perfect partner in captain Rajat Patidar, who hammered 48 runs off 19 balls to keep the run rate climbing through the death overs.

The sheer number of sixes in the second half of the innings left the CSK fielders helpless as the ball repeatedly cleared the ropes. David dismantled the opposition pace attack, particularly targeting Jamie Overton in a penultimate over that went for 30 runs. Despite a half-century from Sarfaraz Khan, Chennai never looked comfortable chasing 251 and eventually folded for 207.

This aggressive batting display saw RCB hit a total of 19 sixes throughout their 20 overs. By reaching this figure, the Bengaluru franchise broke the long-standing record for the most sixes hit by any team in a single match against the Chennai Super Kings.

Previously, the Kolkata Knight Riders held the record after hitting 17 sixes in Chennai during the 2018 season, which was a feat later matched by the Rajasthan Royals at Sharjah in 2020. This current RCB squad have now set a new benchmark for dominance against one of the most successful bowling units in cricket history.

The defending champions are now one of the most feared teams in this edition of the IPL. On the other hand, the five-time Champions are reeling in their transition period.
