Former Pakistani captain Ramiz Raja will be one of the TV commentators for the Test matches between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, it is learnt here.
He will be the only Pakistani commentator and will be joined by at least two commentators each from visiting New Zealand and the home Sri Lankan teams.
Incidentally, former right-handed batsman Raja will be celebrating his 57th birthday on the first day play of the Galle Test.
Raja, who captained 5 Tests (all against Sri Lanka) is also a member of the MCC Cricket Committee. He, however, could not attend the recent Cricket Committee meeting in London, owing to his commentary assignments.
According to the sources close to the broadcasters in Sri Lanka, the other four commentators will be Simon Doull and Kyle Mills. Roshan Abeysinghe and Russel Arnold will be the home commentators.
Ramiz Raja played 13 years for Pakistan national team. He made his test debut against England on March 02, 1984 and ODI debut against New Zealand on Feburary 06, 1987. He played his last test against Sri Lanka on April 06, 1997 and last ODI against India on September 21, 1997.
