IPL 2023: Tim David remarks after MI's victory over RR that Suryakumar Yadav's knock was exceptional.

At the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, April 30, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Tim David praised Suryakumar Yadav, saying the batter looked at his very best since he faced his first ball.

Suryakumar began his innings with a huge six off Ravi Ashwin, and he went on to smash 55 runs off only 29 balls, using eight fours and two sixes in the process. After Suryakumar was struck out by Trent Boult, MI had quite a distance to cover in their run-chase, but the batter had given his team the upper hand.

"We believe we can chase anything down, especially with the power we have across our batting order, especially when batting conditions are so ideal, like tonight here at the Wankhede. Surya came out and played a fantastic inning for us. We grow used to anticipating that from him. But hitting his first ball for six was something exceptional," David noted at the news conference following the game.

David contributed a magnificent 45 off 14 balls, which included two fours and five sixes, to MI's record-breaking run chase at the Wankhede in IPL history. With three balls remaining, the Mumbai-based club defeated the 213-run target. In the final over, with MI needing 17 runs to win, David smashed Jason Holder for three consecutive sixes, leading his team to a victory by six wickets.

"I had been craving that kind of conclusion, and it feels fantastic. The guys have been giving outstanding performances, and the team is really enthusiastic. I've been waiting for this opportunity, and I'm so glad I seized it," he said. "Last year was my first time participating in the IPL, and I was eager to establish my reputation and position within the squad.

Now, however, I try to win the game for Mumbai every time I put on the shirt. Everything I do is for the team, whether it's by attempting to connect with the bowlers or figuring out the best approach. It's fantastic to have a good individual performance, David continued. The next game for MI is on Wednesday, May 3 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali against Shikhar Dhawan's Punjab Kings (PBKS).
