IPL 2026: Yashasvi Jaiswal registers unique records in IPL history

Yashasvi Jaiswal's destructive hitting helped the Rajasthan Royals register a crucial 27-run win over the Mumbai Indians in Guwahati, Assam, on Tuesday, the 7th of April. Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first at Barsapara Stadium. The match was affected by rain, due to which it was shortened to an 11-over game.

The win helped RR go to the top of the points table with 6 points after winning three back-to-back games. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi attacked the MI bowlers right from the word go, showcasing a fearless attitude.

The duo registered an 80-run opening partnership. Jaisval scored 77 in 32 balls, hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes, helping RR score 150/3 in 11 overs. Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 39 in 14 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 1 four. In the process, Jaiswal achieved some unique records in IPL history.

100 plus Sixes for RR

The left-hander became the fourth player to hit 100 plus sixes in the tournament’s history. Sanju Samson has hit 192 sixes for RR, followed by Jos Buttler and Shane Watson, who have hit 135 and 109 sixes respectively for RR.

Joins the list of players with the most 50-plus scores for RR

Jaiswal also joins a list of players who have registered the most 50-plus scores in IPL history for RR. Jaiswal registered fifty-plus scores 19 times in 69 innings, while Ajinkya Rahane has registered 19 fifty plus scored in 93 innings.

Jaiswal scored 22 runs in the first over when he smashed Deepak Chahar all over the stadium. With this, he has featured in all three games for RR, where the team has registered the highest score in the first over itself, with Jaiswal being the only scorer in all three games.

In the Mumbai Indians' batting lineup, only Naman Dhir and Sherfane Rutherford tried to put up some fight, scoring 25 each as they were bowled out for 123. Pacers Nandre Burger and Sandeep Sharma claimed 2 wickets each for RR, while leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi registered figures of 2/25.
