The 19th edition of the IPL has seen several key players get injured, affecting the team combinations of various teams. One of the recent instances of a player getting injured is that of SRH pacer Shivam Mavi, who has suffered a groin injury and won’t be available for the remaining games in the ongoing season.
Australian captain Pat Cummins made a comeback from a back injury, giving the team a sigh of relief. SRH are currently in the 3rd position in the points table with 12 points. The team has won 6 out of 9 matches they have played so far.
Tamil Nadu all-rounder RS Ambarish has been added as Mavi’s replacement. Mavi was bought for a sum of INR 75 lakhs during the 2026 IPL auctions. Mavi took 18 wickets in domestic cricket last season and also scored a century that prompted SRH to bid for him. Although Mavi didn’t get a chance to play for SRH in the ongoing season, he would be disappointed with this unfortunate injury.
Who is RS Ambrish ?
RS Ambrish is the next-generation all-rounder from Tamil Nadu with abundant talent. The 18-year-old was part of the India Under-19 team that won the Under-19 World Cup this year in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
He was the joint highest wicket taker in the entire tournament alongside Henil Patel, claiming 11 wickets in 7 games with best figures of 4/29 against New Zealand.
Ambrish attracted limelight in the final of the Cooch Behar Trophy during the 2024-25 season against Gujarat when he scored a crucial 85, helping Tamil Nadu win the trophy.
Ambrish claimed 2 wickets in his debut match during the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season against Jharkhand, claiming an important wicket of Ishan Kishan. Ambrish will look to gain experience that would help him in his growth by playing alongside some of the best performers in T20 cricket. The 18-year-old was signed for a sum of INR 30 lakhs by SRH.
