Australian all-rounder Cameron Green’s struggles with a lower back injury have prevented him from bowling so far in the ongoing IPL season.

IPL 2026: Sunil Gavaskar feels KKR should review their combination if Cameron Green is not available to bowl

Sunil Gavaskar has stated that he wasn’t sure about Australian all-rounder Cameron Green’s role in the KKR playing eleven, as the team has struggled to find form in the opening round matches of IPL 2026. The 26-year-old hasn’t bowled yet in the ongoing season due to lower back injury concerns and hasn’t lived up to his expectations with the bat.

The former India captain and opener gave his opinion to Star Sports that if Green isn’t fit to bowl, KKR should review their combinations and consider adding other options. Gavaskar stated that if Green isn’t available to bowl, then KKR should add a specialist batter.

Green was bought for a sum of INR 25.20 crore in the auctions, and his below-par performances raise a question mark, as the all-rounder has scored just 20 runs in 2 games so far in the ongoing season.

Gavaskar also stated that although the 26-year-old has scored a century in the IPL and can dominate the best bowling line-ups, his recent form has been a cause of concern. He also scored a century in Australia in the red-ball format recently, but the KKR team management should look at his current performances with the bat.

Gavaskar stated that Green is a perfect fit at no 4 position, but the batting order looks shaky at no 5 no 6 positions. Cricket Australia has stated that Green’s workload is being monitored as the all-rounder is facing lower back injury concerns.

Green has been bowling at the nets, but it isn’t clear when he would be fully fit to bowl in competitive matches. KKR will be playing their next match against the Punjab Kings on the 6th of April at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
