Former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been quite active with his analysis of players' performances. The 39-year-old also gives opinions on players' performances on his personal YouTube channel named 'Ash Ki Baat'. The former off-spinner made interesting predictions on the ongoing IPL season, responding to questions regarding the ongoing season, including how many runs Virat Kohli would score this season.

 The 39-year-old stated that Kohli would score at least 450 runs in the 19th edition. Kohli has so far scored 328 runs in 7 innings in the ongoing season with a strike rate of 163.18, registering 3 half-centuries with an average of 54.67.

Ashwin added that former India captain and wicket-keeper batter MS Dhoni would regain fitness and start playing for CSK soon. The 44-year-old hasn’t played in the ongoing season due to a calf injury. CSK are currently in 5th position with 6 points from 7 games and have missed MS Dhoni’s experience.

Ashwin’s prediction on the purple cap winner

Ashwin had his take on the purple cap winner for the IPL 2026 season. Currently, CSK’s Anshul Kamboj is at the top with 14 wickets in 7 games, but he came up with an interesting prediction. The 39-year-old stated that Prasidh Krishna is the favourite to win the purple cap this season. The 30-year-old pacer has so far claimed 12 wickets in 7 games this season for the Gujarat Titans.

Ashwin feels that if the pacer shows consistency, then he can finish as the highest wicket-taker this season. Krishna is currently the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing season and was the highest wicket-taker last season, claiming 25 wickets.

 

Ashwin’s prediction on Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Ashwin stated that 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi will score five half-centuries this season. The teen sensation has so far scored 2 half-centuries in the ongoing season, registering 254 runs in 7 games for Rajasthan Royals with a strike rate of 220.87

Ashwin’s prediction on the highest team total this season

Ashwin stated that 270 could be the highest team total this season.
