Having turned down dual offers to return to international cricket, former Black Caps coach Mike Hesson will join forces with megastar Virat Kohli in the Indian Premier League.
Hesson was announced on Friday as Royal Challengers Bangalore's new director of cricket alongside former Australian batsman Simon Katich who was named head coach.
In a major overhaul to the RCB staff, batting coach Gary Kirsten and bowling coach Ashish Nehra were shown the door, ESPNCricinfo reported.
The new coaching duo will need to work harmoniously with cricket's biggest name Kolhi who captained RCB to the wooden spoon in this year's IPL.

Hesson coached Kings XI Punjab to sixth place this year before he parted ways with the franchise earlier this month.
The longest serving Black Caps coach from 2012-2018, Hesson applied for the vacant India coaching job and finished runnerup to Ravi Shastri, the incumbent.
He was then linked to the vacant Pakistan and Bangladesh jobs. Stuff reported Hesson was offered both roles but turned them down and didn't put in an application.
RCB regularly boast a star-studded lineup but have been the IPL's biggest underperformers in recent years.
Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori was removed as head coach following the 2018 season when they finished sixth, having made the final in 2016.
"RCB's purpose is to be the most trusted, respected and best performing T20 franchise and hence our constant endeavour is to create a culture of excellence and high performance for every member of the team," RCB chairman Sanjeev Churiwala said in a statement.
Churiwala said both Hesson and Katich had the necessary experience to create a "winning culture" at Royal Challengers, who have never won the IPL despite being three-time finalists.
"We believe that Mike's extensive experience in building strong teams along with Simon's powerful cricket experience will help us create a winning culture. As a result of this restructuring exercise, we will be moving to a single coach model."
