The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) has now increased the per day allowance from $125 (Rs 8,899.65) to $250 (Rs 17,799.30) and also hiked the players' per diem during home international series.
The Vinod Rai-led panel recently held a meeting in New Delhi in order to discuss various issues and allowances of the Indian cricket team both on home and away series. The issue was discussed in detail considering the unstable economy in consideration.
Previously, the players were allowed INR $100 daily, but due to the unstable economy currently, the overseers have planned to fix the allowance at Rs 7500 without linking the dollar-INR value fluctuations.
The away travel allowance has been increased by 2 times- $250 dollars, which is over and above the business class travel, accommodation and laundry costs that the BCCI takes care of. The hike is considered valid for the players and coaching staff, as per Mumbai Mirror report.
Not just the pay was raised for the players, but the selectors have benefitted also with the CoA increasing their daily allowance too. Their daily home allowance, which was INR 3500 has now been fixed to INR 7500 and they are already being given $250 daily for foreign tours. If you are figuring out that these benefits are only for men, you are wrong as Indian women's team also get allowance benefits.
The new allowances are apart from the match fees that BCCI gives the players. In case you didn't know, for a Test, a player gets Rs 15 lakh, for an ODI it is Rs 6 lakh and for a T20I it is Rs 3 lakh. For those who are not in the playing XI, they get annual retainer fee as per the contracts (Rs 7 cr for A+, Rs 5 cr for A, Rs 3 cr for B and Rs 1 cr for C Grade).
