U-19 Tri-Series: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee announced the India A Under-19 and India B Under-19 squads for the IDFC First Bank Under-19 Tri-Series to be played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru from November 17 to 30.
According to the selection committee, Punjab's Vihaan Malhotra will captain the India Under-19 A team. Hyderabad's Aaron George will captain the India Under-19 B team. This series is a good opportunity for young players to showcase their potential and also provide a chance to prepare for the IPL auction, which will take place in the third week of December. Also the tri-series offers coaches and selectors another chance to evaluate emerging talent ahead of the U-19 World Cup.
Rahul Dravid’s son Anvay, a wicketkeeper-batter, was named in the India ‘B’ squad. Anvay Dravid’s selection reflects his consistent progress. The talented wicketkeeper-batter has delivered impressive performances in various age-group tournaments. In October, he led Karnataka in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. He is also part of the squad for the Under-19 Challenger Trophy in Hyderabad.
Interestingly young players Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who have impressed with their performances in the past, haven't been selected in any squads for the tri-series due to their current busy schedule. Ayush is currently playing in the domestic tournament, the Ranji Trophy, which is why he hasn't been selected. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been selected in India's squad for the ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup, making him unavailable.
