Bangladesh and Sri Lanka entered the field in the fifth day of the Chittagong Test on Wednesday (April 3). The target for the day was 243 runs in front of Bangladesh. Where there were only 3 wickets in hand. Therefore, the team did not have the required strength even though they had time. In the end, the expected loss was seen by the Team Tiger.

Sri Lanka scored 531 runs in the first innings of this Test. However, no batsman scored a century in such a big run. The Lankans also touched a milestone in it. After that Bangladesh's first innings ended with only 178 runs. Sri Lanka lead by 353 runs.

Dhananjaya De Silva's team batted in the second innings and avoid to gave follow on to Bangladesh. This time they added 157 runs and announced the innings. All in all, the target in front of Bangladesh is 511 runs.

The match was scheduled to end on the fourth day given the course of the Test series against the team. But Miraz's tenacity made the game on the fifth day. It did nothing but reduce the rate gap. The floor of the house has to be washed.

Bangladesh lost this match by 192 runs. Earlier, the hosts lost the Sylhet Test by a huge margin of 328 runs. Bangladesh's batting failure has been seen in all three innings of the two Tests.

However, Bangladesh did relatively well in the second innings of the last Test of the series. The team managed to accumulate 318 runs on the scoreboard. Mehdi Hasan Miraj has contributed a lot to this run. He ended up unbeaten on 81 off 110 balls.

Now Sri Lanka have claimed the fourth spot on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table after hammering Bangladesh in both test and claiming the two-match series 2-0.

This series win has given a major boost to Sri Lanka's PCT (Points Percentage System). Their PCT before the start of the second Test was 33.33 but has now spiked to 50.00.

Now Shri Lanka only behind New Zealand (third), Australia (second) and India (first) on the ladder. On the other hand, the series loss at the hands of the Dhananjaya de Silva-led side has hurt Bangladesh.

Bangladesh team went into the second Test with a PCT of 33.33 and the heavy defeat in Chattogram has dented their PCT as it now stands at 25.00. They are standing in 7th position of WTC 2025 point table.
