Sri Lankan 15 men World Cup squad came as a bombshell!

World Cup Squad has been announced by Sri-lankan Board, Dinesh Chandimal couldn't make his place in the Squad.

The first surprise came from Sri-lankan Board in previous day, They has been anounced the new captain Dimuth Karunaratne, who has not been included for four-year in Sri-lankan one-day squad. Sri Lankan Cricket Board has been announced today the 15-man squad for the World Cup. There are reamins some other surprises. Former captain and one-time middle-order 'future' Dinesh Chandimal did not placed in the World Cup squad, But also 4 years missing allrounder Jeevan Mendis has been included in the World Cup squad.

It's not the end here, two years ago, Lahiru Thirimanne, allrounder Milinda Siriwardana and leg spinner Jeffrey Vanderas played last ODI for Sri Lanka, The three
players have been placed in the World Cup squad. Kusal Perera, who underwent treatment for his hamstring injury but selected in the squad. However, there were no place for veteran opener Upul Tharanga, wicketkeeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella, opener Danoska Gunatilka and spinner Akila Dhananjay.  In recent times,
these four cricketers have represented Sri Lanka. However inspite of out of form in South Africa, opener Abhishka Fernando has been kept in the World Cup squad

Several cricketers have got place in the World Cup squad for doing well in Sri Lanka's domestic tournament earlier this month. Jeevan Mendis, who took 6 wickets in three matches as well as his unbeaten fifty. Thirimanne is provincial tournament's second highest scorer. Angelo Mathews, who scored a century and 82 runs in this tournament, got the place in the World Cup squad. However, Jeffrey Vanderce the only specialist spinner in Sri Lanka's World Cup squad could not make much better in the provincial tournament but was kept in the World Cup Squad because he did well in international T-Twenty. After the change of bowling action, Akila Dhananjaya lost his effectiveness bowling after the action was taken augmentation made by the selectors.

The selection panel has also included four standby players - Oshada Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, Wanindu Hasaranga and Angelo Perera - who will travel with the team for the showpiece event. While the last date for submission of the preliminary squad is April 23, teams can make changes to the squad until May 23; beyond which any changes needs to be ratified by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Dimuth Karunaratne (c), Avishka Fernando, Lahiru Thirimanne, Kusal Perera (wk), Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Jeevan Mendis, Milinda Siriwardana, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Isuru Udana, Lasith Malinga, Suranga Lakmal, Jeffrey Vandersay, Nuwan Pradeep.
