In a recent interview, Sourav Ganguly aka Dada has revealed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni got a place in the Indian team on his recommendation.

Sourav Ganguly has given some very talented cricketers to Indian cricket. At the time when Sourav Ganguly was the captain, he used to select the team for himself. Players like Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag were given a place in the team by Sourav Ganguly. During a live chat with current Test team opener Mayank Agarwal, Ganguly said that Mahendra Singh Dhoni was also given a place in the team by him.
