IND vs SA: Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the Test series, and Deepak Chahar has withdrawn from the ODI series.

Deepak Chahar will be replaced in the ODI team by Bengal pacer Akash Deep. Shreyas Iyer will join the Test squad after missing the second and third ODIs.

India will be without bowler Mohammed Shami in their bid to win their first Test series in South Africa, the BCCI said on Saturday. The veteran pacer was ruled out of the two-match series after the medical panel did not clear him for the series. Shami, who has been recovering from an ankle injury sustained during his outstanding performance in the 2017 ODI World Cup, was already named to India's Test team.

India will be without fast bowler Mohammed Shami in their quest for a historic Test series triumph in South Africa. The experienced pacer has been ruled out of the two-match series after failing to gain clearance from the team's medical department, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday.

Shami, who has been rehabilitating from an ankle injury after an excellent performance in the last ODI World Cup, was initially named to India's Test squad, subject to medical clearance.

The BCCI did not name a replacement for Shami, and the first Test between India and South Africa is set to begin on December 26 in Centurion.

Prior to the first Test, players of the Indian Test team will compete in a three-day intra-squad tournament beginning December 20.

Shami is anticipated to continue his recovery at home, with a possible return during the England Test series, which starts on January 25 in Hyderabad.

The second Test against South Africa is scheduled to begin on January 3, 2024, at Cape Town.

Deepak Chahar Withdraws:

Deepak Chahar has informed the BCCI that he will be unavailable for the ODI series due to a family medical emergency.

Chahar also missed the fifth T20 against Australia because he had to return home immediately after learning of a family member's sickness.

Akash Deep, a Bengal pacer, has been appointed as Chahar's replacement.
