ICC T20 Rankings: Ravi Bishnoi has capped his spectacular rise by becoming the world's top T20I bowler.

Ravi Bishnoi of India has risen seven places to become the world's best T20I bowler.

There's a new No. 1 T20I bowler in town, and his name is Ravi Bishnoi. Yes, the 23-year-old India spinner has completed his meteoric rise by reaching the top of the ICC T20I rankings. Following his series-winning haul of nine wickets from five games against Australia at an average of 18.22, Bishnoi has displaced Rashid Khan as the world's No. 1 bowler, pushing the likes of Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga and England's Adil Rashid to joint No. 3, followed by Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana at No. 5, forming a top five dominated solely by spinners.

Bishnoi, who was ranked eighth, advanced six places to the top of the rankings. This follows a fantastic performance against the Aussies in which he recorded figures of 3/32, 2/32, 2/29, 1/17, and 1/54. Bishnoi's stock has risen since he represented India in the Under-19 World Cup in 2022. Bishnoi concluded the competition as the tournament's highest wicket-taker with 17 scalps, and he drew significant attention as India won the Under-19 championship.

Later that year, Bishnoi made his India debut, taking part in the Asia Cup campaign and dismissing former Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Bishnoi has 34 wickets at an average of 17.38 in 21 ODIs, including a best of 4/16 against the West Indies in August last year at Lauderhill. The ranking arrives just in time for Bishnoi, who is one of many young players auditioning for next year's T20 World Cup.

At the upcoming ICC event, Bishnoi could emerge as a serious contender for India's top spinner. With Yuzvendra Chahal out of the T20I squad and the management looking for a younger roster for the World Cup in the West Indies and the United States, Bishnoi might present a viable answer. Aside from Bishnoi, another India spinner set to participate in the World Cup, Axar Patel has risen nine places to number 18. Suryakumar Yadav remains the No. 1 T20I hitter, while Hardik Pandya, despite not playing a T20I since August, remains the No. 3 T20I all-rounder.

Summary:

This extraordinary achievement follows his outstanding performance and 'Player of the Series' award in the recently finished series against Australia.

Throughout the five-game series, Bishnoi emerged as India's go-to bowler, claiming nine wickets.

Bishnoi has risen five places to take up the top spot from Afghanistan's spin master Rashid Khan (692).

Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and England's Adil Rashid are tied for third place on the table with 679 points each.

Maheesh Theekshana (677) of Sri Lanka rounds out the top five.
