The only season that they did not qualify was in IPL 2020. They had a bad season for the 1st time in the history of IPL. They could make a lot of changes in their squad ahead of IPL 2021. #1 Mitchell Starc

The left-arm pacer from Australia will be the main target of CSK in IPL 2021 Auction. He has previously played IPL for RCB in IPL 2014, 2015 and 2016. He is one of the best bowlers in the Powerplay and Death. CSK have lacked a good death bowlers in past few seasons. Mitchell Starc may help the cause of CSK.

#2 David Malan

After Suresh Raina pulled out of IPL 2020, there was no player in the team who could play the role of anchor for the team. So CSK could possibly target England middle-order batsman David Malan in IPL 2021 Auction. They didn't have a left-handed in their Top 5 of the Batting. So they Promoted Sam Curran in few matches. Now they could look for a permanent left-hander in their middle order.

After Shane Watson's Retirement CSK will be looking for a opener who can hit the ball hard. Jason Roy's addition to the team will give the much needed balance. He is one of the most underrated cricketer. He has performed well for whichever team he has played. Last Time he played a crucial role for Rising Pune Supergaints (RPS) in reaching the finals in IPL 2017. #5 Carlos Brathwaite

The West Indian all-rounder may give the team much needed balance. Dwayne Bravo is getting injured many times during the tournament in last few seasons and also there is a dip in form, so he might prove handy for Ms Dhoni's CSK.
