India will Host the 2025 T-20 Asia Cup, This Asia will be Played in India after 35 Years
Asia Cup 2025: India will host the 2025 T20 edition of Asia Cup. Although the host of 2027 Asia Cup also confirmed as Bangladesh but this edition will be in ODI Format.
2025 and 2027 Asia Cup Hosts: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to host the Men's Asia Cup to be held in 2025. This tournament will be played in T20 format. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) gave this information on Saturday. Team India became the champion by defeating Sri Lanka in the final of the 2023 Asia Cup. This tournament will be organized in India after 35 years. The last time India hosted was in 1990-91.
Pakistan was to host Asia Cup 2023, but BCCI had refused to send its team there. For this reason, Pakistan had to organize the tournament on hybrid model. India played all its matches in Sri Lanka. Apart from this, the final was also held there. Asia Cup 2023 was played in ODI format.
India will host Asia Cup 2025. Also, this tournament will be played in T20 format. After this, Bangladesh will host the Asia Cup 2027.
Actually, T20 World Cup is to be played in 2026. In view of this, the format of Asia Cup 2025 will be T20, so that the teams can improve their preparation. At the same time, ODI World Cup 2027 is to be played on South African soil. For better preparations for this World Cup, the format of Asia Cup 2027 will be of 50-50 overs.
Asia Cup is organized by Asian Cricket Control. If we look at the history of this tournament, India has been the most successful team so far. India has won the Asia Cup a record 8 times. Which includes ODI format 7 times and T20 format once. Sri Lanka is the most successful team after India. This team has won the Asia Cup trophy 6 times.
Pakistan is at third place between India and Sri Lanka. Till now Pakistan has succeeded in winning the Asia Cup title only twice.
On the other hand Women's T-20 Asia Cup will be played in 2026, although where this tournament will be held and who will host it is not yet known, there will be a total of 15 matches in it. The tender document also includes the Men's Under-19 Asia Cup, to be held in 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 respectively, with 15 matches played in each edition, besides the Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup, 2024 and 2026 (T- 20), 2025 and 2027 (50 overs), also include 30 50 over and T20 matches.
The tender rights cycle also features two editions of the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup, with each edition featuring 15 matches, in 2025 and 2027 respectively. The Asian Cricket Council said in the tender document that interested parties must have a net worth of more than US$10 million or an annual turnover of more than US$15 million by March 31, 2024. The last date for submission of EOI for sponsorship rights from 2024 to 2027 is 2nd August, 5pm Dubai time.
