Malan said, 'I took all three formats very seriously but Test cricket requires a lot of hard work. Five days apart and preparation days. It is quite exhausting mentally.
Dawid Malan also held the number-1 position in the ICC T20 batting rankings for a long time. He is counted among the explosive opening batsmen of world cricket in which he has got the opportunity to play in all three formats for England. In the year 2022, when the England team won the T20 World Cup trophy, David Malan was also a part of the team and he played an important role with the bat in the team's victory.
Dawid Malan made his debut for England in 2017. Since then he has scored 1074 runs in 22 Tests, 1450 runs in 30 ODIs and 1892 runs in 62 T20s. Speaking after announcing his retirement, Malan said, “It has been an incredible journey since July 2017. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to play for England in all three formats.
“Cricket, like most sports, is an industry where almost everyone eventually retires wishing they had done that little bit more. Whether you’ve played ten Tests or 100, many step away regretting not playing just one more, scoring a few more runs, or winning more trophies.
Malan told Test Cricket that playing in this format was my dream since childhood. At one time I was playing well but was not able to maintain the rhythm consistently, which is definitely disappointing for me because I feel I could have performed better. Despite this, it is a big thing for me to play all three formats.
