England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement, "Durham all-rounder Ben Stokes, who has been with Root since July last year, will lead the side in the first Test match at Southampton. After returning, Rout will keep himself in isolation for seven days and will join the team on 13 July before the second Test to be held in Manchester. The second Test match will start from July 16.’
