BAN vs SL 1st ODI : The ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka (BAN vs SL) started with the first match. After losing 1-2 in the T20 series, host Bangladesh (Bangladesh Cricket Team) has made a great start in the ODI series. Bangladesh team easily achieved the target of 256 runs given by the Sri Lankan team in the first ODI by losing 4 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the series. The hero of the host team's victory was captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who scored a brilliant century and helped his team win the match with 32 balls remains.

Sri Lankan captain Kusal Mendis won the toss and decided to bat first. Openers Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando added an excellent 71 runs for the first wicket but both the batsmen returned to the pavilion one after the other. Nissanka contributed 36 runs and Fernando contributed 33 runs.

Captain Kusal Mendis scored 59 runs in 75 balls with the help of 6 fours and 1 six but in the middle order, Sadira Samarawickrama flopped by scoring 3 runs and Charith Asalanka flopped by scoring 18 runs. In the last overs, Janith Liyanage made small partnerships with the lower order batsmen and took his team's score beyond 250. Liyanage played an excellent inning of 67 runs. For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan took 3 wickets each.

Bangladesh had a very poor start in reply to the target of 256 runs. Openers Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar returned to the pavilion early after scoring 3 runs. Tauheed Haridoy also lost his wicket on the team score of 23 runs. But from here captain Shanto along with Mahmudullah added 69 runs for the fourth wicket. Mahmudullah scored 37 runs in 37 balls which included 4 fours and 1 six. Within 100 runs, 4 batsmen of Bangladesh were out but Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim made an unbeaten and match-winning partnership of 165 runs for the 5th wicket. Nazmul Shanto scored the third century of his ODI career and remained unbeaten on 122 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim played an important inning of 73 runs, which included only 8 fours. Dilshan Madhushanka took maximum 2 wickets for Sri Lanka.
