Key Stats
20.3 Imran Tahir to Virat Kohli
Imran Tahir to Virat Kohli. Leg spinner half volley, middle stump on the front foot Slog, inside edge to fine leg for 2 runs, mis-fielded by Rabada, fielded by Zondo. Kohli tried to swing for the ropes to finish this game off with a half-century but unfortunately could only find the inside edge and after Rabada mis-fielded they chose to take the two on offer and finish the game off. What a performance we have seen from India today though, with some top quality spin bowling from both Chahal and Yadav as they took eight wickets between them and ripped through the South African batting order, albeit some poor shot choices from the batsman helped their cause. A five-for for Chahal, his first in ODI cricket, was the stand-out performance today as India duly knocked of the measly target of 119 in just over 20 overs. Dhawan getting the only 50 of the match and Kohli stranded just short. India take a 2-0 lead in this six game ODI series after some top quality performances against a slightly weakened South Africa side, missing du Plessis as well as de Villiers through injury. They will need to secure victory on Wednesday in the third ODI if they are to have hope of winning this series and that will require some much improved performances from the majority of the team here today.
