27.4 Mitchell Santner to Jack Leach

OUT! Caught. Mitchell Santner to Jack Leach. Stock length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, hit pad to short leg, by Latham. Mitchell Santner gets a third to end a wonderful day for him, and for New Zealand! Leach prods forward, it pops up off the pad, and Latham takes a marvellous catch in close to put the Kiwis in the driving seat. Leach considers the review, but ends up just walking off. The replays show there was no bat or glove involved, so that could have been overturned.England have been ground into the dirt, and they are paying the price for not getting enough runs in their first innings now. BJ Watling and Mitchell Santner were fantastic with the bat in the first half of the day, and made the away side field for over 200 overs. Clearly they will have been very tired and fatigued, and that showed with the manner of the three wickets at the end of play. Some very questionable shots from the openers, and that has left England a mammoth job tomorrow to save the match. New Zealand are now huge favourites to go on and take a 1-0 lead.
